Well, Summer is here. it has been 100 degress + has been the norm. It got real hot mid May, which caused the cantaloupes to bunch up which means market goes down. The Market is now coming back up, and the supply is less. There is about 3-4 weeks left. Quality and yield have been fairly good. Honeydews are tasting Great!
Wheat harvest is under way. The market is half of what it was last year. We contracted most of this year’s crop at last year’s price. Lucky! Yields a little less than last year. Protein is important and can kill you if too low.
Garlic shipping underway....crop looks good, but competition from China effect the world price, and it’s LOW.
The Salinas crowd is starting to make the winter Vegetable deals....not too much excitement; VEG market has not been very good. Looking at growing cost fro the new year....diesel is starting to go up again....hope it doesn’t reach the highs of last year.
